Creating acts that matter.

If you want to know if the script of your routine is good,

Here’s a rule I use often.

A simple question. One that has never failed me.

What if the effect didn’t happen?

If all you had was the script, nothing else,
Would the audience still feel something?

Would they feel their time was well spent?

Would they take something from it?

If the answer is yes, then you’ve got something special.

If the script stands on its own, even without the effect,

Then you’ve written something real.

Because let’s be honest: most scripts are just setups.

They’re functional. They serve the trick.

An excuse to show something.

But they’re empty on their own.

A good script, a real one, is more than that.

It’s a story. A question. A piece of truth.

It gives something to the audience.

Even if the magic never arrives.

Now, if the test fails, it doesn’t mean the routine or act is bad.

There’s a time and a place for those kinds of effects.

But I am obsessed with those pieces that carry something deeper.

That offer more than entertainment. That hold some deeper truth.
